VEN (SAN FRANCISCO) — Google Assistant, Cortana, voiced by Jen Taylor, knows all about Satan, Kali, Buddha, Mohammad, Mithra, Joseph Smith, David Koresh, Jim Jones, Marshall Applewhite, Elijah Muhammad, Charlie Manson, Hitler, Herod, and Pontius Pilate.
But ask her about Jesus or Jesus Christ and she has nothing to say. Literally.
Google spokesperson Ali Amahl told reporters Monday, that it takes time to record answers to every possible question people can ask Google Assistant, and that Google developed a very sophisticated algorithm to rank voiced answers to requests based on “a lot of stuff.”
When asked why — when answering the question Who Is John The Baptist? — Cortana replies: Here’s a summary from Wikapedia — John the Bapsist known as the prophet Yahya in the Quran as well as John the Baptizer was a Jewish itinerant preacher in the early first century AD, Mr Amahl explained that it is incorrect to refer to Google Assistant as “Cortana,” since Google now allows users to select several different voices when using Google Assistant.
“We are proud of our gender-neutral LGBTQ policy regarding Google Assistant. It’s who we are as a company!
“Furthermore, in response to several complaints about GA’s reply to the question What is Christmas? we changed GA’s answer from A nominal Christian holiday that annoys Muslims and damages relations with Islam to Christmas — the annual Christian festival celebrating Christ’s birth, held on December 25 in the Western Church.”
